Perak Putri to use cyberspace and colours to woo youth

IPOH: Using cool colours and the cyberspace –that is how Perak Puteri Umno wants to win over youth to regain the state from Pakatan Rakyat in the next general election.

Its chief Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin said the movement was looking into various changes it needed to adopt to woo young voters in Perak.

“One distinct change is the use of colours. Hence, the black colour and shocking pink,” she said Saturday at the first series of Puteri’s 2013 mission to capture the hearts and minds of voters.

The colours would be used on the wing’s banners and certain clothing like t-shirts.

“We are also using blogs and Facebook to reach out to the youngsters,” she said. The movement’s blog is www.pu3perak.blogspot.com.

The wing had to change to stay relevant with youth in view of the recent political scenario while continuing its “conventional” programmes, she said.

The first series was a closed-door talk entitled “The Terengganu Experience” given by Terengganu Umno chief Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

Dr Wan Norashikin, who is also Kampung Gajah state assemblyman, explained black was considered a “cool” colour among the younger generation.

Mlle Monster say

Unless the youths they are refering to are 12 year olds, i fail to see how 'cool' colours can take the place of issues when it comes to being relevant. I am sure Putri Umno can't possibly see things in such a simplistic way. Well I hope so.

Sometimes I wonder if the papers are being wry in reporting silly news like this. The eye rolling is almost palpable.
